Wire will conduct a series of shows slated for this coming summer, the band recently announced. With plans to appear at the Pitchfork Music Festival on July 19, the punk ensemble have decided to perform several concerts leading up to the big festival gig. Their first July performance has been booked for the 9th in Detroit, MI, and will precede dates in Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, DC, and Ohio through the 17th. Pitchfork’s annual event, and the final stop on Wire’s brief tour, will take place on the 19th in Chicago, IL.
But a major alt-rock festival, though a big seasonal deal, isn’t the only reason for the Brit rockers’ tour Stateside. Wire also has a new album out (couldn’t you guess?), called Change Becomes Us, which they’re currently working to promote. The record is the band’s 13th, and the followup to 2010’s Red Barked Tree. Tickets to a few of the group’s shows – and of course, to Pitchfork’s festival – are on sale now, but definitely check back with us in the coming weeks as even more seats & deals start to sell!
