YACHT Puts Out a New App, Single, Sunglass Line, & Tour
Indie electro-rock duo YACHT has just given a lot for their fans to take in. First they dropped a new single, “Where Does This Disco?” (which you can listen to below), then they released a smartphone app they’ve been developing called 5 Every Day (which gives five cool activity ideas for the LA area each day) AND announced a new line of sunglasses they’ve created with Chili Bean. Oh, and they’re going on tour this fall. They’ll kick things off at the Bluebird Theater in Denver on September 14. After that, it’s on to shows in Missouri and Tennessee. They’ll play the Black Cat in Washington D.C. on September 19 and then play up the Eastern seaboard, eventually playing a show in Toronto on September 26. The group will play Chicago on September 27 and Minneapolis on September 28, before heading on to a leg through the Pacific Northwest. They’ll finish up playing the TBD Festival in Sacramento on October 5.
Originally started as a solo project by founder Jona Bechtolt in 2002, YACHT officially became a duo when performance artist Claire Evans joined as a singer in 2008. The group has since become known for their smart blend of synth and rock, as well as their intricate artistic philosophy which they explained in their free iBook The Secret Teachings of the Mystery Lights: A Handbook on Overcoming Humanity and Becoming Your Own God.
