UPDATE: T In The Park

With a new album on the horizon and plans to kick off a European tour in March, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs revealed plans to headline one of the biggest festivals in the United Kingdom, T In The Park.

The 20th anniversary of the annual Scottish festival is set to take place this year from July 12 through July 14. The festival, which brings in over 85,000 fans each year, has also announced Rihanna, The Killers, Mumford & Sons, Alt-J, Jake Bugg, Paloma Faith, Of Monsters & Men, The Script and Two Door Cinema Club as performers on the bill.

Tickets are on sale now and the best deals on all T In The Park tickets can be found right here at SeatGeek.

UPDATE

The Yeah Yeah Yeahs have released yet another teaser video for their upcoming album, Mosquito, set for release this spring. The trippy clip features the band performing part of the song “Always” (at least we’re assuming that’s the name of the song, as it’s the only word Karen O sings, albeit repetitively, throughout the brief 49 seconds) as the edges of what looks like a tunnel shaft, and glitter, obscure our view. It’s all very ethereal and not unlike this scene from Labyrinth. Have a look below:

The band, who will release a new album Mosquito on April 16, will play the O2 Apollo in Manchester on May 1, the O2 Academy in Leeds on May 2 and Alexandra Palace in London on May 4.

Tickets for all three of these shows will go on sale this Thursday, January 31.

UPDATE

No tour dates, no Coachella confirmation… but the Yeah Yeah Yeahs have released the name of their fourth album, and the record’s awesome/unsettling cover art. Mosquito is set to drop April 16 – check out its front design and teaser video below:

UPDATE

It isn’t a full tour – yet – but the Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ upcoming show in Pomona, CA, is still noteworthy. The band will perform at Glass House on January 11, a venue co-owned by Coachella founder Paul Tollett. Whispers of the group making an appearance at Coachella are growing louder by the day, and as YYY have a new album they’ll want to promote right around the time the festival hits, their friendly visit to Tollett’s establishment might just prove the networking opportunity each side needs.

Let’s hope the meeting proves fruitful, but while you wait for more news, go ahead and scroll through our list of discount ticket links below!

UPDATE

With the news that they are in the studio finishing up their new album, set for release in 2013, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs appear to be headed for a major appearance at Coachella in 2013. As with The Rolling Stones and Daft Punk, rumors have been flying as lineups have been prematurely revealed in email newsletters to fans and the like.

If the rumors are true and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs are on the bill, Coachella is shaping up to be a must have ticket in 2013. We’ll keep updating you as news is confirmed. If you check out their own website, the last news update they provided was around the band’s own Hurricane Sandy Benefit Concert in Union Pool in Brooklyn on December 8. We’ll see if they confirm the rumors in the new year.

Keep checking back fans!

PREVIOUS NEWS

With 2013 shaping up to be the year of the major tour announcement (Eminem, Manson, a second Bieber leg), we’re hoping indie rockers the Yeah Yeah Yeahs will add their less high-profile, if no less acclaimed, name to the new year’s touring roster. After the band recently changed their Twitter image to an enigmatic photo of a man in fluorescent chicken headgear wielding a light sabre (we think), we were a little… concerned, until we read the copy beneath:

Finally. It’s been almost three years since the musicians who used to split rent and share loft space with several future members of the band Metric (there’s your trivia tidbit for the day) released an album of new material, or toured. Their sophomore album, 2006’s Fever to Tell, was their breakout hit, spawning their most commercially successful single to date: “Maps,” also known as one of the better formative angst anthems of the early aughts. It’s Blitz, effort number three, leaked online before its official release, although in the eyes of the critics, the album marked yet another YYY success – Spin Magazine and NME named the song, “Zero,” their best of the year. All this history serves to show the amount of anticipation building behind Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ as-yet untitled fourth studio release. Nothing’s been said on the subject of a possible 2013 tour, but where there’s an album, there’s a promotional angle, so be sure to check back with us when the group inevitably hits the road!
