The Big East Conference Men’s Basketball Tournament is arguably the most prestigious and noteworthy of all postseason tournaments in NCAA basketball. It is a tournament rich in history and tradition that has called Madison Square Garden in New York City home for 30 years now, with the first year of the tournament at MSG coming in 1983.

With a conference that features Syracuse, Georgetown, Pittsburgh, Louisville, Marquette and Notre Dame – all nationally ranked – the Big East is a powerhouse conference in men’s collegiate basketball. The tournament is an intense and highly competitive tune up for the Big Dance, the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament. March Madness is in full swing come the opening tip of the tournament and the games typically pack MSG to the rafters. With an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament at stake, other teams on the bubble in the conference and huge underdogs also have a shot of continuing on to the Big Dance.
This year’s tournament kicks off this coming Tuesday, March 12 with Seton Hall University taking on the University of South Florida. It will run through Saturday, March 16, when the championship game will take place at 8:30 pm at MSG and will be televised on ESPN.
