The Chicago White Sox finished up the 2012 baseball season with a 85-77 record, fighting the Detroit Tigers tooth-and-nail for the American League Central title. With the Tigers winning out in the end, the White Sox were not able to make the playoffs, something they have not done since 2008. This rivalry will continue into 2013 for sure, given the weak nature of the AL Central in general and the consistency of the rosters from 2012 moving into 2013.
The lineup for the White Sox is led by a few big bats, primarily Paul Konerko (26 HR, 75 RBI, .298), Adam Dunn (41 HR, 96 RBI), Alex Rios (25 HR, 91 RBI, .304), and A.J. Pierzynski (27 HR, 77 RBI, .278). Dunn was the American League Comeback Player of the Year winner, however, the only thing that did not comeback or never was really there was his batting average – .204. As for the pitching staff, the White Sox boast the talents of Chris Sale, Jake Peavy, and Gavin Floyd, who combined for 40 wins last season.
