The Detroit Tigers‘ lineup was led by Miguel Cabrera in 2012. Cabrera had arguably one of the greatest seasons in all of baseball, winning the American League MVP and achieving the ever elusive Triple Crown – leading the American League with a .330 batting average, 44 HR and 139 RBI. Cabrera was bolstered by the big bat of Prince Fielder, who finished 2012 with a .313 batting average, 30 HR and 108 RBI. They formed the most dangerous duo in all of baseball, in my opinion. Also in the lineup for the Tigers were Delmon Young (who has since signed with the Philadelphia Phillies) and Austin Jackson. The Tigers also went out and signed Torii Hunter to shore up the outfield and provide another significant bat in their potent lineup.
As for their pitching staff, who can not remember that the Tigers have Justin Verlander. He had another great year with a 17-8 record, 239 strikeouts and an ERA of 2.64. Behind Verlander there was Max Scherzer, who had a solid year himself with a 16-7 record and an ERA of 3.74.
Detroit Tigers New Players 2013
As mentioned earlier, the Tigers big offseason signing was the signing of Torii Hunter, who will man one of the outfield spots going into the regular season.
