After picking up big names like Carl Crawford, Hanley Ramirez, Adrian Gonzalez, and Josh Beckett in in-season trades, the Los Angeles Dodgers had hopes of going deep into the playoffs in 2012. However, they ended up finishing the season with a 86-76 record and missing out on the playoffs altogether.
The Dodgers head into the 2013 season with the above names as well as Dodger mainstays Andre Ethier and Matt Kemp, who combined for 48 HR and 158 RBI despite losing a combined 69 games to injury. The Dodgers pitching staff, which is led by former Cy Young Award winner Clayton Kershaw, now will boast the talents of another former Cy Young Award winner, Zack Greinke, after they signed him to a huge contract this offseason. We’ll see, with a complete Spring Training under manager Don Mattingly, if the new can mesh with the old and take on the Giants for supremacy in the NL West.
Los Angeles Dodgers New Players 2013
As mentioned above, the Dodgers made one of the biggest moves this offseason, by signing Zack Greinke to a long term deal. He joins an already stacked pitching rotation headed into 2013.
