The NCAA Tournament is an exciting time for college basketball fans, and the First Four Rounds have set the stage for an even more thrilling tournament. Next up in the March Madness schedule are the First and Second Rounds, March 16th-19th, 2023. The First and Second Rounds of the NCAA Tournament are often the most exciting and nerve-wracking for fans and teams alike.

These early rounds can make or break a team’s chance of advancing to the later stages of the tournament, and as such, they often feature some of the most intense and closely contested matchups.

Before we get too far ahead of ourselves, let’s review the tense moments and March Madness highlights from this week’s First Four games. Don’t worry; we’ll tell you how to buy tickets for the First and Second Rounds, too.

NCAA First Four Results

We’re just a couple of days into March Madness, and there have already been some insane plays.

The NCAA First Four kicked things off with Texas A&M-Corpus Christi vs. Southeast Missouri State. The teams went neck and neck until the final minute of the game, where Texas A&M-CC hit 3 of 4 at the free-throw line, advancing them to play No. 1 seed Alabama in the South Region. Star player Isaac Mushila came out with 15 points and 12 rebounds, letting everyone know Texas A&M-CC is ready to take the title.

Pittsburgh and Mississippi State battled to the death on Tuesday, with Pittsburgh stealing the win in the last 10 seconds of the game. Despite being short a center due to injury, the team demonstrated resilience, making it known that they are here for the long fight. Pittsburgh will advance to Greensboro next to play against Iowa State.

Wednesday’s First Four games began with Fairleigh Dickinson dominating Texas Southern 84-61, with Ansley Almonor scoring 23 of those points for Fairleigh. This marks the first NCAA win for Fairleigh Dickinson in four seasons – a Cinderella story, to say the least.

The NCAA First Four games came to an end with a thrilling game between Arizona State and Nevada, with Arizona decimating Nevada 98-73 –  the largest point total of all Final Four games. The storyline for this game was nothing short of ironic, as Arizona recently gained two Nevada transfers after the 2021-2022 season. Arizona will advance to play TCU on Friday in the First Round games.
