March Madness Ticket Price Report: Round of 64
If you are a fan of college basketball you might want to check out our full coverage of 2012 Final Four tickets over at the SeatGeek Blog.
March Madness is an exciting time of year, people who are not generally college basketball fans are glued to their TVs watching along to see if their brackets will stay in tact. We thought it would be interesting to track March Madness ticket prices throughout the tournament and show a ticket price summary for the NCAA Basketball tournament for each round. We will take a look at the price of NCAA Basketball Tournament tickets across all of the games in each round to see if there are any fan favorite games or venues. The round of 64 started up a few hours ago so we have our first installment of the NCAA Basketball Tournament ticket price report.
Out of the 32 games taking place today and tomorrow, the most expensive ticket at $172/ticket is for Session 2 at the BOK Center in Tulas, OK to watch 1 Kansas vs 16 BU and 8 UNLV vs 9 Illinois. It is interesting that a session with a 1 vs 16 game is the highest priced ticket considering a 16 has never beaten a 1 in the Men’s NCAA Basketball Tournament. The Southwest Region also has the highest average ticket price of any of the four regions at $149 per ticket.
Quicken Loans Arena narrowly edged out the BOK Center as the venue with the highest average ticket prices for the Round of 64, averaging $156 per ticket. College basketball fans seem to be least excited about today’s and tomorrow’s games at St Pete Times Forum, last in average ticket price by venue for the Round of 64 at $124 per ticket.
Good luck on your brackets and stay tuned for the next installment of the NCAA Basketball Tournament ticket price report.
