NASCAR Chase Nearing the Final Turn
2013 NASCAR Sprint Cup Chase for the Cup
The 2013 NASCAR Sprint Cup season is about to enter its ninth month, and this weekend will mark the halfway point of this season’s Chase for the Cup. Thirteen racers have 35 checkered flags in their rearview mirror, and the standings show that plenty is still left on the track for the last six NASCAR Chase races scheduled between now and the season’s conclusion on November 17. The first thing this group sees approaching is the intimidating Charlotte Motor Speedway, home of the Bank of America 500. This event is a particularly special NASCAR Chase for the Cup race date because it’s the only night race in the sport’s playoff. Every racer’s stamina under the lights will be tested, and NASCAR Sprint Cup Chase contenders Kevin Harvick, Kasey Kahne, and Kurt Busch could have a psychological edge because they finished 1-2-3 in Charlotte’s race back on Memorial Day Weekend.

Once the racers start down the backstretch of the 2013 NASCAR Chase for the Cup in Charlotte, the always dangerous Talladega Superspeedway awaits them. Following these two classic tracks, trips to Martinsville, Texas and Phoenix will pace the pack through to the conclusion of the 2013 NASCAR season at the Homestead-Miami Speedway with the Ford 400. After his streak of five straight NASCAR Sprint Cup Championships was ended in 2011, Jimmie Johnson is back at the front of the pack to challenge for his sixth title. The last two NASCAR Chase winners did not qualify this season, so Johnson holds an advantage in the experience department over the likes of most other racers. Matt Kenseth is on notable exception, though, since he’s currently three points in front of Johnson and successfully won a title ten years ago. Fans of established racers like these two, four-time champ Jeff Gordon, and newcomers like Joey Logano have fans from all over sprinting to get their NASCAR Chase tickets. Let’s see who’s the fastest. Gentlemen, start your engines!
