Can you handle all this racing? Not us! We’re so excited here at SeatGeek our hearts are, well… racing. (Sorry – had to.) The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series schedule for 2013 is up and running, and the gentlemen are nearly ready to start their engines. Not much is new about this year’s schedule – once again, NASCAR will feature 36 points races, and all 23 tracks from 2012 (including Talladega Superspeedway, Daytona International Speedway, and Kansas Speedway) familiar to those who follow racing will make an appearance or two. There’s a slight switch of later-season dates in the calendar, bringing Kansas Speedway back up to the fourth season event and moving Talladega two weeks deeper into the schedule. The switch was made in 2012 due to a repaving project in Kansas, and now the schedule has righted itself once again.

The real difference in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series this year? The cars! Debuting at the Daytona 500 on February 24, giving the Chevrolet SS, Ford Fusion, and Toyota Camry a racing counterpart to its street-legal brothers and sisters.

Bit of history about the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series to impress your friends: originally known as the Strictly Stock Series, the race has gone through a series (pun intended) of name and sponsor changes before reaching an agreement with NEXTEL (who was acquired by Sprint in 2005). More than half of the races take place in the Southeastern U.S., and the Daytona 500 (the series’ most prestigious race) earns 16 million viewers annually from around the world.
