2013 NBA Playoff Matchups

Dramatic NBA team introductions are commonplace today, but one of the original, iconic traditions most people know is Chicago Bulls’ darkened arena with “The Final Countdown” playing while Michael Jordan and his teammates were announced. Well, that song applies pretty well to the introduction of the 2013 NBA Playoff matchups. With one four days left until the end of the regular season and a couple of seeds undecided, it is truly the final countdown until LeBron James and the Miami Heat enter the tournament to defend their NBA Championship.

With only two or three games left on each team’s schedule, the following races are of particular note and will come down to the wire. The Los Angeles Lakers and Utah Jazz are fighting for the last 2013 NBA Playoff spot, but the Lakers will have to manage chasing the Jazz without superstar Kobe Bryant, who ruptured his Achilles tendon over the weekend and will be injured for at least six months. Meanwhile, the Oklahoma City Thunder and San Antonio Spurs are in a tight race for the top Western Conference seed, and the Atlanta Hawks and Chicago Bulls are in a tight race for the No. 5 seed in the Eastern Conference. The “Lob City” Los Angeles Clippers and Memphis Grizzlies are in a dead heat for home court advantage in their first round No. 4 – No. 5 matchup.
