NCAA Sweet Sixteen East Region Preview

The East Region of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament played out pretty much how the seeds were handed out. The four teams headed to Washington DC for a chance to reach the Elite Eight and then the Final Four are Indiana (#1), Miami (#2), Marquette (#3) and Miami (#4).

This sets up two very exciting match ups at the Verizon Center for Thursday when the #1 seed Indiana Hoosiers take on the #4 seed Syracuse Orange and the #2 seed Miami Hurricanes take on the #3 seed Marquette Golden Eagles. The winner of these two games will play for a chance to reach the Final Four in Atlanta.

Let’s take a look at these four teams and their paths to the Sweet Sixteen.

Indiana Hoosiers

The Hoosiers displaced the #16 seed James Madison by a score of 83-62 before beating out the #9 seed Temple Owls in a tough third round game that ended in a score of 58-52.

Miami Hurricanes

The Hurricanes routed #15 seed Pacific 78-49 before winning a close game against #7 Illinois in the third round by a score of 63-59.

Marquette Golden Eagles

The Golden Eagles beat out #14 Davidson at the buzzer by a score of 59-58 before winning another close battle in the third round against #6 Butler with a score of 74-72.

Syracuse Orange

Syracuse essentially manhandled #13 seed Montana in the second round by a score of 81-34 before beating #12 seed California by a score of 66-60.
