The NFL is almost back. In just a few short weeks, football fans will get a first look at their favorite teams on the field during the 2019 preseason. The exhibition games get underway on August 1 when the Denver Broncos take on the Atlanta Falcons for the yearly Hall of Fame Game.
There will be 64 other match-ups to watch over the course of the month, but we’ve chosen the top five that you do not want to miss. Check ’em out below.
Arizona Cardinals vs Oakland Raiders | August 15
A Thursday evening game will see the Oakland Raiders, featuring former Pittsburgh Steeler superstar Antonio Brown, head to Glendale, Arizona to take on the Cardinals. Being a week two game, we should get a decent look at the starters, so expect a few reps for AB as well as the Cardinals’ rookie quarterback Kyler Murray.
Jacksonville Jaguars vs Philadelphia Eagles | August 15
Super Bowl 52 hero and new Jacksonville quarterback Nick Foles will face off against his old team for the first time, albeit in limited capacity. We shouldn’t see him on the field for too long, but it’ll be interesting to see how he handles the spotlight against his former squad. It’ll also be a good chance for Philly fans to see a healthy Carson Wentz under center.
Dallas Cowboys vs Los Angeles Rams | August 17
For the first time in 43 years, Hawaii’s Aloha Stadium will host an NFL exhibition game. That itself makes this an exciting preseason game – the fact that it takes place between the Rams and Cowboys, who played in the NFC Divisional Round last season, just sweetens the deal. Don’t miss this game, even if just to marvel at the beauty that is Honolulu.
Los Angeles Chargers vs New Orleans Saints | August 18
These two teams don’t like each other, to say the least. After multiple years of holding joint practices leading up to their preseason matchups, things haven’t exactly stayed civil. Expect some entertainment and some anger on the field when the Saints and Chargers face off. Oh, and even if there’s nothing special in that regard, you’ll still get a chance to see Philip Rivers and Drew Brees, two legendary quarterbacks.
Cleveland Browns vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers | August 23
Odell Beckham Jr. and Jarvis Landry, former LSU teammates and current close friends, will be on the same side of the field for the first time in the NFL this year, making up a fantastic receiving core for the Cleveland Browns. In week three of the preseason, we should get a longer look at the first team offense featuring these two dynamic receivers. Mark this on your calendar, because there’s sure to be a highlight or two.
These are a few of the best games you’ll find in the 2019 preseason, but there are plenty more throughout the entire month of August. Head to SeatGeek to view all of our NFL tickets.
