NFL: Top Matches by Ticket Price
Week four of NFL season is almost upon us – here’s week three in review!
Week three of the 2010-2011 NFL season featured a plethora of fierce rivalry games, with two match ups demanding well above $200 per ticket on the resale market while others maintained their low to mid $100 averages. Let’s take a deeper look into these prices…
- Last weekend’s matches were headlined by the sold out Monday night match between the Packers and the Bears at Soldier Field. Despite having played 180 contests, this was only the second time the teams faced each other the third week undefeated. This much anticipated game demanded the highest average ticket price for football on the secondary ticket market, with each ticket costing a soaring $272.37 on average. The fans got their money’s worth, treated to an exciting game led by Aaron Rodgers’ stellar performance slinging the ball and running. In the end, Rodgers’ efforts were for naught as the Bears’ bend-but-don’t-break defense and a record eighteen penalties cost the Packers the game.
- Just behind the Bears/Packers match up was the in-state game between the Houston Texans and the Dallas Cowboys, where fans paid an average of $255.76 to see the Cowboys win their first game of the young season. The Texans’ first loss has already impacted their ticket prices, dropping immediately after the game against the Cowboys.
- At the other end of the price spectrum were the Bengals at Panthers and Redskins at Rams games. The Panthers’ struggles continued as they fell to the Bengals while the Rams and rookie QB Sam Bradford got their first victory of the year over Washington, matching their total number of wins from last year.
Be sure to check out the ranking of NFL teams by ticket prices here. The Chicago Bears have jumped to #1 because of the recent game against the Packers and the Houston Texans have dropped to #12 with average prices of $178.57.
We will be back next week to look at the ticket prices for week four games. Buckle up and get ready for some exciting match ups this weekend!
