Pittsburgh Penguins vs. Ottawa Senators Eastern Conference Semis Preview

The Pittsburgh Penguins, coming off of a tough first round series against the surprising New York Islanders, now advance to the second round to face an old formidable foe in the Ottawa Senators. The Penguins, led by Hart Trophy finalist Sidney Crosby and Jarome Iginla, are up against a Senators team that defeated the Montreal Canadiens easily in five games. In the first round matchup against the Islanders, the Pens were forced to switch goalies from Marc Andre Fleury to Tomas Vokoun, after Fleury had a tough time with the speedy forwards of the upstart team from Long Island.

Even though the Senators lost all three games against the Penguins in the season series, each game was a battle. The Senators are a tougher and quicker version of the Islanders, and if the Penguins are looking to advance, they would be smart to review the tape from their first round series to identify weaknesses and prepare for the Eastern Conference Semifinals with that in mind.

Game 1 will take place in Pittsburgh at the CONSOL Energy Center. The energy is sure to be electric, so if you’re in the market for tickets, they go on sale tomorrow.
