Best Party Ideas for Super Bowl XLVII
Super Bowl Parties
Now that the holidays are over and the post-festivity depression is setting in, the Super Bowl XLVII seems like the perfect opportunity to get friends together for some good, clean, American fun. And if you don’t have tickets to the game, heading to a local bar or inviting friends over for some food and drink is always a good time. Unless your friends are lame, then that might not be so fun. Everybody knows that besides watching good-looking football players in tight pants – err, besides watching the game – there are a lot of other things that come with Super Bowl Sunday. Also, stick around for some post-game fun when Earphunk, a jam band from Nola, will play a show in their hometown on February 9. And, if the city really sucks you in (as it’s known to do), stick around for their annual Jazz Fest event, the lineup of which has just been announced.

Pot Luck Party
Everybody loves all of the delicious snacks that come with watching the Super Bowl. Combine that with the cuisine of New Orleans and you have yourself one heck of a spread! Crawfish, gumbo, alligator, boudine, and beignets are just some of what Nawlins has to offer food-wise. Or, stick with the traditional finger-foods like pigs in a blanket, buffalo wings, and chips and dip. Have each of your friends bring over a dish while the game is on, and get eating!
Super Bowl Party Games: Drinking Game
OK, so not everybody drinks during the Super Bowl, but let’s be honest – most people do. So why not make a bit of fun out of it? Drink anytime a a player does a dance in the end zone or every time a new commercial comes on television. Take a shot every time your team gets a touchdown! They beat the other team, and you have a nice buzz on by the time it’s all over. See, everybody wins.
New Orleans-Themed Party
If you can’t make it to New Orleans for the Super Bowl, why not bring New Orleans to you? Try to create a New Orleans-themed party in your very own home! Get a good recipe for a Hurricane, one of the best boozy drinks of the city. Or bump some Rebirth Brass Band, one of the musical pride and joys of the area, while sucking down crawfish and gumbo. With all the fun you may even forget about the game! Yeah right, who are we kidding?

Whether you’ll be near the Super Dome, or thousands of miles away, tailgating is one of the best sports pastimes out there. Nothing like taking the ol’ top down, filling your cooler and roasting weenies in the outdoors. Drag the TV outside and pick up a few chairs, it’s about to get REAL on your front lawn. Just make sure you bring enough cased meats for the neighbors!
