The Syracuse Orange, winners of the NCAA basketball championship in 2003 who made the Elite Eight last year, look to take on the Big East this year for the very last time before they become a part of the ACC in 2013. Under Jim Boeheim, the Orange have reached the Final Four on four occasions and the Elite Eight eight times. The Orange had to replace four starters this year but are still being heralded as one of the top 10 teams in the country according to preseason rankings. The only other Big East team ranked higher than them is Louisville at #2.
The 2012-2013 season schedule features a tough Big East Conference schedule versus the likes of Louisville (#2), Notre Dame (#22), Cincinnati (#24), Pittsburgh, Marquette, and Georgetown, as well as non-conference games against San Diego State (#20).
