Ticket Demand for Heats – Warriors Game

LeBron James and the defending NBA Champion Miami Heat are visiting the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday, February 12, as part of a six-game Western Conference road trip, and they’re bringing the championship and MVP hype to The City with style. That two-time defending champ buzz translates to money on the secondary ticket market. This season, teams hosting the Heat have seen a ticket price bump on the secondary market of 146% on average for their game(s) against Miami compared to their season average ticket price. The bump for Golden State in this case has been 166% ($194 average ticket price for tomorrow’s game compared to a season average ticket price of $73). In contrast to the high ticket prices for the Heat game, seats for Monday night’s blowout victory over the Philadelphia 76ers were available for as little as $13. In fact, 27 of the Warriors’ 41 home games this season have drawn average ticket prices below the minimum $83 it would take to get in the door for Warriors-Heat.

While the Heat’s reputation as an unstoppable force certainly adds to the mystique of their infrequent visits to the other coast – this will be their only visit to Oakland all season, save a NBA Finals matchup – the recently offensively-challenged Warriors are only trailing the Heat record by four wins. The Western Conference has been far superior to the East this season, so don’t be deceived when a No. 7 seed like Golden State hangs with Miami, currently the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference; Miami just fell to the basement-dwelling Utah Jazz, after all. The potential firepower of the Warriors is scared of no one, and they can present defensive matchup problems, as well, if everyone is healthy.

While a handful of standing room only tickets for Warriors-Heat remain available from the Golden State box office starting at $72.50, fans have no choice other than the secondary market to get actual seats to Wednesday’s game. Tickets in the upper level start at $83 apiece, and lower-level seats start at $172. To get into the corners of the courtside club at Oracle Arena, you’ll need to spend at least $573 per ticket. There are tickets listed for as much as $4,400 and up, but we’ve only seen a handful of courtside seats sell for more than $2,000 per ticket. Building on the hype of their matchup last month, prices are up 47% from the last time the Heat visited Oakland on January 16, 2013, when tickets averaged $132.

Miami Heat vs. Golden State Warriors Tickets

Golden State Warriors Ticket Prices at Oracle Arena

The Miami Heat game is the most expensive ticket for a Golden State Warriors home game this season by 30 percent.

By average ticket price, Golden State Warriors tickets are the 12th-most expensive in the NBA on the secondary market ($73 per ticket). The Golden State resale market, however, is the 2nd-most active in the NBA by volume; the only team with more tickets traded on secondary markets is the New York Knicks, who also have the most expensive seats in the league ($158). Compared to last season, Warriors tickets are 30% more expensive overall this year. The average ticket to a game at Oracle Arena in the 2012-13 season went for $56 on the secondary market, which was 15th-highest in the NBA. The most expensive Warriors regular season home game prior to Wednesday night’s matchup was a game against the Lakers last season on Dec. 22, 2012, which drew an average ticket price of $167.

Heat and Warriors High-Powered Offenses

The Heat and Warriors met in Miami on January 2, and Golden State won the offensive shootout 123-114 behind Stephen Curry’s 36 points. LeBron James and Miami will now try to get revenge in front of one of the most raucous home crowds in the NBA.
