All of the events will be played on a different type of surface. The French Open will be played on a clay surface, which is probably the hardest court to play on because the ball bounces more softly. Next is Wimbledon, which is known for its grass surface. Last but not least, which is probably the biggest event out of them all is the US Open, which is played on a hard surface. The last person to sweep the Grand Slam tour for the mens was Rod Laver in 1969. Guys like Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic have come very close, but have never completed the sweep. Novak Djokovic has already won the 1st event of the Australian Open and hopes to win the next three. For the women, the last person to sweep was Steffi Graf in 1988, but women like Serena Williams, Venus Williams, and Maria Sharapova have all come close. Victoria Azarenka has already taken the Australian Open for the ladies and hopes to try and complete the sweep. Get ready for the French Open to begin on May 26, 2013, and prepare for exciting matches this summer.
