The 2010-2011 college football bowl schedule is set. The bowl games begin with the New Mexico Bowl on December 18th and continue over the course of three and a half weeks concluding with the BCS National Championship game on January 10th when the Auburn Tigers and the Oregon Ducks will battle for the title of National Champions. We took the average ticket price of each of the bowl games to create our top bowl games of the 2010-2011 college football season.
#1 BCS National Championship – Auburn Tigers vs Oregon Ducks – The average price of a ticket to the watch Auburn and Oregon battle for the BCS National Championship is $842.31. Auburn won their first and only national title in 1957 and while Oregon is looking to claim their first National Championship. With each team averaging over 40 points per game this game is bound to be an exciting high scoring shootout.
#2 Rose Bowl – Wisconsin Badgers vs TCU Horned Frogs – Unbeaten TCU looks to show the country just how good they really are against the Big Ten Conference Champion Wisconsin Badgers. This is TCU’s first Rose Bowl appearance and the Badgers are going for their 4th Rose Bowl win. Rose Bowl tickets are averaging $392.52, just 46.6% of the price to the BCS Championship game.
#3 Cotton Bowl – Texas A&M Aggies vs LSU Tigers – The Cotton Bowl is not a BCS bowl game but tickets to this game are averaging more than three of the BCS bowl games. The $294.80 average ticket price to the Cotton Bowl is around $8 more than a ticket to the Sugar Bowl and over $100 more expensive than a ticket to the Fiesta Bowl and the Orange Bowl.
#4 Sugar Bowl – Arkansas Razorbacks vs Ohio State Buckeyes – The average price of a ticket to see Arkansas face off against Ohio State in the Sugar Bowl is $286.16. This is the biggest of the three Big Ten vs SEC bowl games on our top 10 list.
#5 Fiesta Bowl – Oklahoma Sooners vs Connecticut Huskies – UConn’s Big East Championship earned them a spot in the BCS bowl game series. The Fiesta Bowl will be the biggest football game in UConn history. Oklahoma on the other hand has a long history of playing in big bowl games. The average price of tickets to the Fiesta Bowl is $182.62.
#6 Orange Bowl – Virginia Tech Hokies vs Stanford Cardinals – With an average ticket price of $168.35, the Orange Bowl is by far the best bang for your buck to see a BCS bowl game. Stanford is ranked #4 in the BCS with their only loss being against the undefeated Oregon Ducks and Virginia Tech is on a roll with 11 straight wins. This is a great opportunity to see Stanford’s Andrew Luck, a potential Heisman Trophy winner and likely #1 NFL Draft pick, in what is likely to be his last college football game.
#7 Meineke Car Care Bowl – Clemson Tigers vs South Florida Bulls – *There is very limited data for this game but at the moment the average price of a ticket to the Meineke Car Care Bowl is $161 which puts it at #7 on our list.
#8 Capital One Bowl – Michigan State Spartans vs Alabama Crimson Tide – Michigan State must be a little bitter about finishing the season with an 11-1 record and not playing in a BCS bowl game but they lucked out getting matched up against the defending National Champions. The average price of a ticket to the Capital One Bowl is $159.21.
#9 Chick-Fil-A Bowl – Florida State Seminoles vs South Carolina Gamecocks – In the first season without Bobby Bowden as head coach of the Seminoles, Jimbo Fisher continues the streak of 29 consecutive bowl game appearances in his first season as Florida State head coach. Fans are paying an average of $144.66 to see Jimbo Fisher and the Seminoles take on the veteran coach Steve Spurrier and the Gamecocks in the Chick-Fil-A Bowl this New Year’s Eve.
#10 Alamo Bowl – Oklahoma State Cowboys vs Arizona Wildcats – The Wildcats are coming off of a four game losing streak but a win against the Cowboys in the Alamo Bowl can brighten up their season. The average ticket price to the Alamo Bowl is $142.11.
