As NASCAR revs up (because they drive cars!) for its 2013 season, we’re checking out who could be this year’s top drivers. As always, Dale Earnhardt Jr. is up there as a serious contender. He ended his 2012 season with a win, and made it into The Chase (aka postseason). He also finished top 10 or top five in many of his races last season. Despite the concussion he sustained last October, he’s back in action and definitely a driver to watch. Similarly, we have Jeff Gordon, who hasn’t won a championship since 2001, but who had a great 2012 regular season, ending with a win at Homestead.

Looking to the younger generation, Kasey Kahne is definitely a driver to watch. Though he’s just starting his career at Hendrick Motorsports (this will be his second season), he had an impressive showing during the testing days back in December when he turned the last lap at Charlotte Motor Speedway, cruising at a cool 193.771 mph. He’s being compared to Brad Keselowski, who drives for Penske Racing, the winner of last year’s chase and Sprint Cup Championship.
