There are a lot of games happening this week that are especially important for the people playing in them. With the two title fights taking place in UFC, and the Women’s Olympic Qualifying’s last match for group-A before the semi finals, it’s going to be a nail-biter of a week. The question we all really want to know is: who will reign champion?

From Monster Jam to UFC 247, here are the top sporting events happening in Houston this week.

UFC 247: Jones vs Reyes @ Toyota Center

Saturday, February 8 | 5PM

Get ready for an intense, action-packed Saturday night and watch UFC 247 at the Toyota Center to watch two title fights. UFC lightweight champion Jon Jones will be defending his title against #4 ranked light heavyweight Dominick Reyes. UFC’s women’s flyweight champion Valentine Shevchenko had a remarkable 2019 and will be putting her belt up for the 3rd time against #1 ranked flyweight Katlyn Chookagian. Also fighting this night will be Adams vs Tafa, Bektić vs Ige, and Lewis vs Latifi. You can grab tickets on SeatGeek starting at $161!

Monster Jam @ NRG Stadium

Saturday, February 8 | 7PM

This Saturday night, get your adrenaline pumping by watching huge mechanical beasts slam into each other repeatedly at Monster Jam. There will be 14 trucks/drivers to see, including some fan favorites like Bad Company with John Gordon, and Earthshaker with Steven Thompson. The event starts at 7PM, but if you’re interested there will be a pit party happening at 2:30pm and ending at 5:30pm. At the Pit Party, you can see the massive monster trucks up close and meet some of your favorite drivers. This event is additional to general admission, but worth it for an unbelievable experience.

Utah Jazz at Houston Rockets @ Toyota Center

Sunday, February 9 | 6PM

At the last game on January 27, the Houston Rockets beat the Utah Jazz 126-117. What’s insane about this game is that the Houston Rockets played missing a few of their key players, James Harden, Russell Westbrook, and Clint Capela. All three suffered some type of injury that caused them to miss this game. You’d think the healthy and ready Utah Jazz had an advantage, but we’re all surprised to see the results of the game. This Sunday, grab tickets to watch them play again at the Toyota Center because they don’t have time to linger. Tickets are going for as low as $24 on SeatGeek.

Colorado Raptors at Houston Sabercats @ Aveva Stadium

Saturday, February 8 | 7PM

The Houston Sabercats are actually one of the founding members of Major League Rugby. This league was founded in 2017 and they played their first season in 2018, so it is still pretty new. You can watch them play against the Colorado Raptors this Saturday night at the Aveva Stadium. This game will actually be the opening game of the season and not one you’ll want to miss if you follow rugby.

SMU Mustangs at Houston Cougars Women’s Basketball @ Fertitta Center

Wednesday, February 5 | 7PM

This Wednesday, grab tickets on SeatGeek to watch the SMU Mustangs play against the Houston Cougars at the Fertitta Center. The SMU Mustangs have been playing a strong season, winning a few games against other teams. Ariana Whitfield dropped a season high 23 points for the Mustangs, which shows they are definitely going to be bringing their all for this game. Will the Houston Cougars be able to keep their momentum going? Tickets are going for as low as $17.

CONCACAF Women’s Olympic Qualifying (Panama vs Haiti, Costa Rica vs US) @ BBVA Compass Stadium

Monday, February 3 | 4:45PM

This Monday game is the third and last match for Group A of the CONCACAF Women’s Olympic Qualifying before the semi finals. You will be seeing Panama play against Haiti at 6pm and Costa Rica play against the US at 8:30pm. This is one of the most important matches for this group of teams as they are now that much closer to qualifying for the Olympics. You can grab tickets for these games at SeatGeek starting at $24.
