There are a ton of really exciting and important sporting events happening this week in Houston. Don’t worry if you’re not much into basketball or football–on the list we’ve included plenty of other events you might enjoy (we may or may not be referring to wrestling).

From the AFC Championship to a free Rugby game, here are the top sporting events happening this week in Houston.

AFC Championship: TBD at Houston Texans @ NRG Stadium

Sunday, January 19 | 2:05PM

If you don’t already know, the AFC Championship is the annual championship game of the American Football Conference. It’s also one of the two semi-final playoff games of the NFL. Basically, this is exactly what you should be doing on Sunday if you live in Houston and love football. This is definitely a game I would snag great seats for to watch the Houston Texans go against another team.

Portland Trail Blazers at Houston Rockets @ Toyota Center

Wednesday, January 15 | 8:30PM

Even if you’re not a die-hard fan of either team, a matchup between the Portland Trail Blazers and the Houston Rockets is still going to be entertaining. The two teams face off midweek and the game will definitely be a hot ticket. Plus, who doesn’t love a weeknight basketball game to break up the monotony of the usual work schedule?

Hurricane Pro Wrestling @ Ford Park

Saturday, January 18 | 7PM

If you’re not into basketball, which seems to be happening all week, check out some entertaining pro wrestling hosted by Hurricane Pro! It is bit of a drive (about an hour and a half) if you live right in Houston. However, this would still be a pretty great event to go to. You’ll be watching Miranda Alize vs Will Allday.

Los Angeles Lakers at Houston Rockets @ Toyota Center

Saturday, January 18 | 7:30PM

Whether you plan on attending the Wednesday matchup between the Houston Rockets and the Portland Trail Blazers, you definitely need to keep your eyes peeled to the Saturday game as well. On Saturday night the LA Lakers will take on the Houston Rockets at the Toyota Center for a marquee basketball event, perfect for any sports’ lovers weekend activity.

Rugby Touch League ft Houston Hurricanes @ Montie Beach Park

Saturday, January 19 | 10AM

If you like American football, but want something with a bit of an English flair instead, try rugby! The Houston Hurricanes Touch Rugby Club is hosting their Winter tournament and you can check out their game for free. If you’re looking for an active Saturday morning activity, look no further than Montie Beach Park.

SMU Mustangs at Houston Cougars Basketball @ Hofheinz Pavilion

Wednesday, January 15 |8PM

The SMU Mustangs from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX will be playing against the Houston Cougars from the University of Houston. Both teams have been playing incredibly well, so this will be a really interesting game to watch. Especially for a hump day matchup.

Southern Miss Lady Golden Eagles at Rice Owls Women’s Basketball @ Tudor Fieldhouse

Saturday, January 18 | 2PM

From Hattiesburg, Mississippi, the Southern Miss Lady Eagles will be playing against the Rice Owls. The Rice Owls are a Houston local women’s basketball team from Rice University. The Rice Owls are also a team to be reckon with. They started the decade off with a 81-43 victory at their last game against the Marshall Thundering Herd from Marshall University.
