UFC Hits Harder Than Ever
UFC Schedule 2013
The Ultimate Fighting Championship, more fondly known as UFC, is celebrating its 20th year. Time flies when you’re pummeling people! Though the rules have evolved since the first season’s “there are no rules” rule, the shocking primal carnage of the events remains intact. The majority of viewers watch fights through an extensive pay-per-view network, and Friday night is UFC night on FX, but there are also a select few live fights, at large arenas in large cities. The UFC is currently abroad, but starting April 13th, they’ll be at Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, before heading to the HP Pavilion in San Jose, CA, then flying east on April 27th for fights at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ.

This year has been almost been too successful, and UFC President Dana White recently cut sixteen fighters from the roster, saying that was “the tip of the iceberg” and that an additional hundred fighters would be let go. In a cruel, 2013-esque twist of fate, some of the fighters learned they’d been fired via Twitter. Bummer. As with many other sports (ahem, baseball, football..) there’s something downright patriotic about settling back on the couch, drink in hand, and watching UFC, if for the neck and back tattoos alone.
