Venezuela World Baseball Classic Players
Similar to many Latin American nations, Venezuelan baseball is becoming more and more of a national pastime, not on the scale of soccer but increasing numbers of young talent are making their way on to rosters in Major League Baseball. Just look at the roster for Team Venezuela headed into the World Baseball Classic. The squad features American League MVP and Triple Crown winner Miguel Cabrera, World Series MVP Pablo Sandoval, slugger Carlos Gonzalez and fire arms in Carlos Zambrano and Anibel Sanchez.
Led by Luis Sojo as the manager, Venezuela will play in Pool C along with Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic and Spain. Their first round game action will take place on March 7 versus the Dominican Republic, March 9 versus Puerto Rico and March 10 versus Spain. All games will take place at Hiram Bithorn Stadium in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
