The Get Up Kids Details

The Get Up Kids began in 1995 in Kansas City, Missouri. They got their start by releasing 7-inch vinyls and EP's locally, and soon enough the band caught the attention of Doghouse Records. In 1997, they released their first full-length album titled "Four Minute Mile." Shortly after the release, they parted ways with Doghouse Records and signed with Vagrant Records, where they released Something to Write Home About, which would go on the become the band's most popular cult classic. The band continued to release albums until 2005, when personal issues forced the band to break up. However, the breakup was relatively short lived. In 2008, The Get Up Kids reunited and in 2010, released Simple Science EP, featuring their first recordings in 5 years. In 2011, the band released There Are Rules via their own record label Quality Hill Records.

Though the music scene had changed considerably in the years they were disbanded, The Get Up Kids continue to tour today and seek to rebuild their momentum. They are widely considered one of the most successful second-wave emo bands, influencing a significant chunk of the early-2000's pop-punk bands, including Fall Out Boy, Midtown and The Early November.
