Opened in 2008, Saputo Stadium is a soccer-specific venue in Montreal that plays host to the Montreal Impact of Major League Soccer. The stadium is built where the training grounds for the 1976 Summer Olympic track and field events once stood, and is in a position where you can see other landmarks built for those Olympic Games from the stadium.

The Montreal Impact first used this stadium in a lower division of North American soccer, as they played in the NASL until their eventual move up to MLS in 2012. Since then, the Impact have had some success, including some great years with Didier Drogba as part of the club, who helped lead Montreal to a deep run in the CONCACAF Champions League in 2015. The Impact reached the final but lost to Club America.

Before the Impact made the jump to MLS, Saputo Stadium held just over 13,000 people. That was not enough seats to foster a move to the major league level, so an expansion was made ahead of the 2012 transition that boosted the occupancy of the stadium to just over 20,000 people, putting it at a level deemed satisfactory by all parties ahead of the move.

Saputo Stadium had some brief experience with international soccer competition in the late 2000s, with the Canadian men's national team playing matches at the venue. The most notable match that team Canada played at Saputo Stadium took place in 2008, which was a 4-1 win over St. Vincent and the Grenadines in the second round of 2010 FIFA World Cup qualifying, a tournament that Canada failed to qualify for.

Saputo Stadium is the second largest soccer-specific stadium in Canada, next to only BMO Field in Toronto, which is the home of Toronto FC, the other premiere MLS franchise based out of Canada.
