Want to Lead DevOps at SeatGeek?
Our team of four engineers is rather exceptional at many aspects of web development. Figuring out why all our PHP workers can't seem to communicate with MongoDB is not one of them. We can get by, but we're looking for someone to come in and lead the charge. You will be the person responsible our hosting architecture, the programs and databases that run on that architecture, and our Capistrano-based deployment system.
As our DevOps Lead, you'll spend approximately 30% of your time on server-related matters. The remaining 70% will be spent on general web development (wherever in the stack you're most comfortable). That's important: the majority of this job is software engineering. We try to automate everything we can, so the infrastructure issues you deal with will be idiosyncratic hiccups and new challenges, not everyday tedium. The ideal candidate will be someone who loves building web apps but also has a fascination for web app underpinnings.
What We're Looking For
- Strong understanding of Linux systems/tools
- Experience with the software in our stack (not necessary to have all of this): Ubuntu, MySQL, Redis, MongoDB, nginx, Python, Ruby (Thin/Unicorn), PHP, Capistrano, Chef Solo
- Experience automating both code and server deployments
- AWS experience is a big plus
- Expert with at least one language (French does not count), and very good with several others
Job Perks
- A competitive base salary and a meaningful equity stake in a well-funded early stage company
- A culture where engineering is king
- A laid-back, fun workplace with all the soda/beer/etc you can drink, all the food you can eat, team lunches 1-2 times per week, and frequent social jaunts organized by Eric Waller, our official Social Chair
- The opportunity to write code that is used outside of SeatGeek, e.g. we've opensourced our job system, DJJob, our Redis-backed autocompleting service, Soulmate, and our Python string matching library, FuzzyWuzzy
- A superb benefits package, including full health/dental/vision
- Hackathons: Scheduled times when everyone drops what they’re doing and builds cool stuff in small groups
