Aussie sensation livin' the dream in a Surfer's Paradise (created June 5, 2013)

You hear that sound? The one that starts at an octave above the normal shriek of a teenage girl and eventually gets loud enough to render anyone nearby completely deaf? That's what it sounds like when Cody Simpson (aka 'Australia's Justin Bieber') hits the stage, his shaggy blonde hair blowing in the breeze while crooning out hits like "iYiYi" and "Summertime."

Just like Bieber, Simpson started out as an Internet sensation and was discovered on YouTube during the summer of 2009 after performing songs like "I'm Yours" by Jason Mraz and "Senorita" by Justin Timberlake. But what Simpson and Bieber have in common now will only bring more comparisons. Simpson, for instance, is also signed to a US record label (Atlantic Records). As of 2011, he had also hired Bieber's manager, Scooter Braun.

Simpson was a touring machine from the very beginning, playing middle schools and malls over arenas and amphitheaters. Along the way he recorded two EPs, 2010's "4 U" and 2011's "Coast to Coast." The latter sold some 24,000 copies and reached number 12 on the Billboard 200. Both projects served as a prequel to 2012's full-length debut, "Paradise," which bowed on October 2, spawning a European tour where Simpson actually opened for Bieber.

Simpson will release "Surfer's Paradise," his second full-length album on July 16, 2013. He'll also publish an autobiography, "Welcome To Paradise: My Journey," through HarperCollins in October.
The teen has already released the album's first single, "Pretty Brown Eyes," and recently posted a video for another track called "Awake All Night" to YouTube.
