The Oakland Alameda County Arena and Coliseum Complex, consisting of the Oakland Alameda County Coliseum and the Oracle Arena first opened in two parts in 1966. The Coliseum began its life with an AFL game between the Oakland Raiders and the Kansas City Chiefs. The arena then brought together the Oakland Seals and the San Diego Gulls two months later for an NHL game.
Both were renovated in the mid-1990s to update and expand the buildings. The interior of the Oracle Arena was redesigned entirely at the time and rebuilt from the ground up. The redesign added 4,000 seats to the Arena, putting the maximum seat count over 19,000. In both renovations, they added VIP and club areas to the venues.
Today, the Oracle Arena is home to the Golden State Warriors, the Bay Area's NBA team. It's the oldest NBA arena and first played host to the Warriors intermittently before becoming their home arena in the 1971 season. Since then, the Oracle Arena -- sometimes called the "roaracle" for the loud atmosphere at Warrior's games -- has hosted decades worth of NBA playoff games, including the NBA Finals in 2015, 2016, and 2017. The Warriors won the Finals in both 2015 and 2017, making home arena history.
