Minnesota United FC Details

Minnesota United joined MLS for its inaugural season in 2017 following six seasons in the NASL. Head Coach Adrian Heath’s team features the likes of Kevin Molino, a former standout with Orlando City SC, and Christian Ramirez, the club’s top goal scorer from the NASL era. Other players who had previously been with the club include Miguel Ibarra, an attacking midfielder, and Ibson, a Brazilian central midfielder with experience in various European top flights on his resume. Costa Rica national team player Francisco Calvo is the captain and anchors a defense that was bolstered early in the season with the additions of Marc Burch and Sam Cronin, both of whom were acquired by trade from Colorado. Veteran MLS goalkeeper Bobby Shuttleworth is in net and young forward Abu Danladi is a player to keep an eye on after the club made the Ghanaian striker the first pick in the 2017 MLS SuperDraft. Unlike most expansion teams, Minnesota already has a strong fan base. Its home matches in 2018 will be played at TCF Bank Stadium, located on the campus of the University of Minnesota, before they make the move to their new soccer-specific stadium, Allianz Field, in St. Paul for 2019.
