Sebastian Maniscalco Details

From 1998 to 2005, while toiling away in the Los Angeles comedy scene looking for his big break, Sebastian Maniscalco waited tables at the Beverly Hills Four Seasons hotel, serving guests who had already made it—like Jerry Seinfeld. “I always had it in my head: One day, I’m going to be on this side of the table,” he told the Los Angeles Times in 2016. Today, he is on the other side of the table (figuratively, at least; we don’t know how often he eats at the Four Seasons). You can tell by the company he keeps: Maniscalco has a role in the 2017 film The House, which stars Amy Poehler, Will Ferrell, Jason Mantzoukas and Nick Kroll, among many other A-list comedians.

Maniscalco was finally able to leave his job as a waiter when, in 2005, he began performing regularly at The Comedy Store in West Hollywood. The club is a who’s who of LA comedians, and it wasn’t long before he started getting noticed regularly. None other than Vince Vaughn discovered him, featuring Maniscalco in the documentary Wild West Comedy Show. Maniscalco made appearances on Leno, Fallon, Conan and Ferguson, introducing his brand of comedy to a national audience. In 2009 he released his first stand-up special, Sebastian Live. Since then he has had three Showtime specials, including 2016’s Why Would You Do That?, performed at New York City’s Beacon Theatre. That’s the same venue where Seinfeld performs every month, and Jerry was in the crowd for the taping of Sebastian’s special.
