The History of Country Concerts

Country music was made popular in the United States, primarily the South and West. The genre is known for its use of string instruments and popular variants, including honky-tonk and country pop. Though they have a long history, country concerts didn’t rise in popularity until the genre was introduced on more mainstream radio stations in the 1920s. In fact, Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry started as a radio broadcast in 1925 and has since become an iconic staple in the country community. Touted as “the Show that Made Country Music Famous,” the Grand Ole Opry remains one of the most prestigious stages in the music industry.

The Live Country Concert Experience

Don your best cowboy boots, your favorite hat, and get ready to dance the night away! Country concerts often provide a fun mix of love songs and ballads as well as those that will get you on your feet. Country fans are an extremely dedicated group of people and they love singing along with their favorite artists. At a live country concert, expect plenty of hand-clapping, two-steppin’, and – if you’re lucky – a duet!

Notable Country Performers

From Garth Brooks and Luke Bryan to Chris Stapleton and Dolly Parton, there are so many talented country performers today. What used to be a more niche genre has become more mainstream as well, with more and more country songs being featured on popular radio stations around the country. Of course, Taylor Swift started her career on the country stage but has transitioned to create more pop hits. Other popular artists include Miranda Lambert, Carrie Underwood, and Shania Twain, among others.

Noteworthy Country Concert Events

Perhaps the most well-known event in the country genre is the Country Music Awards which takes place each November.
