Formed in Los Angeles in 1971, The Eagles is considered one of the most successful musical acts of the 1970s. With their tight sound and smooth harmonies, it’s no surprise that this band burst onto the scene just one year after they were founded. Their debut single, “Take it Easy” was an instant hit, propelling The Eagles and the tiny town of Winslow, Arizona into nearly instant fame.
Influenced by 1960 rhythm and blues, soul, bluegrass, and rock, The Eagles’ unique sound has been described as “California rock”. Though they were inspired by many different genres, The Eagles’ signature sound is like nothing ever heard before or since they first hit the charts, and their impact on modern music is undeniable. You’ll be hard-pressed to find any music lover that doesn’t know at least a handful of their songs by heart. Their music continues to influence today, with many of the most accomplished guitarists citing The Eagles as one of their biggest inspirations.
Coming off their wildly successful 2017 tour that started in October, the iconic 70s band has announced tour dates for the 2018 year. The tour will keep the same name, “An Evening with The Eagles”, and features Don Henley, Joe Walsh and Timothy B. Schmit, with Vince Gill and Deacon Frey.

The opening acts will rotate between the three. With the immense talent all three possible acts, every show is sure to be a one of a kind experience from the first song until the last.

“Take it Easy” is one of many songs that fans are sure to hear on tour, as it was their debut single and one of the most recognizable Eagles songs to this day. Ironically, Glenn Frey was quoted in an interview as saying that “Take it Easy” was about not getting too big, too fast, but the smash hit did just that for the band, and they’ve produced hit after hit ever since.
With so many smash hits, it’s hard to say which ones will make the setlist, but fans can be assured that platinum hit “Hotel California” will make the cut. The insightful and introspective lyrics of “Hotel California” had fans pondering the meaning of the song for decades, and it remains a fan-favorite to this day. The song drew huge sales, proving that this easy-going, country-esque pop act were major players in Rock & Roll, too.
“Desperado” is another hit with major staying power. Appearing on the album of the same name, “Desperado” is one of the best-known Eagles’ songs of all time, even though it was never released as a single.
The mellow “Peaceful Easy Feeling” is sure to have fans singing along, with this third release in 1972 being hailed as one of their most popular songs. With the catchy lyrics and laid-back tempo, it’s not surprise that this song is one that audiences love to sing along to.
No Eagles set is complete without “Take it to the Limit”, a popular song with audiences since it was released in 1975. Originally meant to be Randy Meisner’s solo composition, it remained unfinished until Henley and Frey stepped in to complete it.
