The Masters 2022 Players and Champions

Of course, the biggest news around the world is Tiger Woods’ return to The Masters. In 2021, the five-time Masters winner was in a serious car crash, nearly lost his leg, and claimed he would never play golf full-time again. And yet, Tiger was seen with his son practicing at Augusta National, less than one week ahead of the practice rounds on April 4. It’s up in the air whether Tiger will make an appearance, but everyone — including his opponents like Rory McIlroy — is hoping he pulls through. This isn’t the only change to the 86th Masters, as Phil Mickelson is taking a break after his comments about the PGA Tour. Whether The Masters officials encouraged him not to play or the PGA Tour banned him, the 51-year-old to be absent for the first time since 1994.

There are 18 former The Masters winners who are set to compete in the 2022 tournament. The list includes Hideki Matsuyama (2021), Dustin Johnson (2021 – postponed from 2020), Tiger Woods (1997, 2001, 2002, 2005, 2019)m Patrick Reed (2018), Sergio Garcia (2017), Danny Willett (2016), Jordan Spieth (2015), Bubba Watson (2012, 2014), Adam Scott (2013), Charl Schwartzel (2011), Zach Johnson (2007), Mike Weir (2003), Vijay Singh (2000), Jose Maria Olazabal (1994, 1999), Bernhard Langer (1985, 1993), Fred Couples (1992), Sandy Lyle (1988), and Larry Mize (1987).
