SeatGeek Expands Global Reach with Hiring of International General Manager
James McClure joins SeatGeek having previously grown Airbnb and Google in new markets
NEW YORK, NY (July 26, 2018) -- SeatGeek today announced the hiring of James McClure as the company’s first ever General Manager International. In this new role, James will lead and grow the business across Europe, while based out of SeatGeek’s London office. He will be responsible for the continued growth of SeatGeek Enterprise, as well as spearheading future international expansion and development opportunities outside of the U.S.
James will be joining the SeatGeek team after spending several years at Airbnb as the GM of Northern Europe. In this role, James oversaw Airbnb's market growth across the U.K., Ireland, the Netherlands and the Nordics. Prior to Airbnb, James spent eight years at Google in London, Sydney and Singapore; most recently running their APAC Emerging Markets business. With him comes incredible experience in guiding sales, growing businesses, planning and allocating resources, and navigating local government policy, which will be incredibly valuable to SeatGeek’s goal to continue to scale the European business and beyond.
“We're thrilled to have James joining SeatGeek,” said Jack Groetzinger, CEO and co-founder of SeatGeek. “James has a great deal of experience growing international markets for technology companies. His track record speaks for itself. We're excited to learn from him and honored to have him leading the charge for SeatGeek abroad.”
Founded in New York City, SeatGeek has grown internationally over the past 15 months following its acquisition of Israeli-based TopTix. SeatGeek’s primary ticketing platform SeatGeek Enterprise is now used by clients around the world, including a quarter of England’s Premier League, theatres from London’s West End to Norway, and major sports franchises like the Dallas Cowboys. SeatGeek has seen particular success in the European market since entering the space, and continues to add clients throughout the region.
“SeatGeek has incredible momentum in Europe, and I’m looking forward to accelerating that success,” said McClure. “Our partners and prospects are quickly seeing the best-in-class technology of SeatGeek Enterprise, and we look forward to investing more in the region moving forward.”
