Prudential Center Details
Located in the heart of Newark, New Jersey, Prudential Center has been the home for several pro and college sports teams in New Jersey. Known as The Rock, the venue has seen postseason action in hockey and basketball, as well as marquee fights, concerts, and other noteworthy events, all while providing fans with a positive fan experience.
The main use of Prudential Center is hockey, as the New Jersey Devils call the arena home for half of their season each year. The Devils have also had the most success in the arena, with The Rock hosting Stanley Cup Final games in 2012, when the Devils fell to the Los Angeles Kings in the league's championship series.
In basketball, Prudential Center has had an interesting history that included the NBA for an extended period of time. Before their move to Brooklyn, the Nets went by the New Jersey Nets and called the Prudential Center home. During that time the NBA Draft was held at the Prudential Center as well. The Rock has also been home to plenty of college basketball, with the Seton Hall Pirates and NJIT Highlanders playing their home games there. The Prudential Center has also hosted the Legends Classic, as well as regional action in the 2011 NCAA Tournament, where Kentucky knocked off North Carolina to get to the Final Four.
Prudential Center has seen several big fights happen under its roof, with a number of explosive UFC main events taking place there. There have been two Jon 'Bones' Jones title fights at Prudential Center, with Jones knocking out Chael Sonnen and defeating Mauricio Rua as well. Georges St. Pierre has also defended a title at Prudential Center, winning a unanimous decision over Dan Hardy at UFC 111.
In addition to the above, Prudential Center was also the home of Super Bowl media day ahead of Super Bowl XLVIII, which took place in the nearby MetLife Stadium.
Where are the best places to sit at Prudential Center?
At Prudential Center, seats in the single and double digits are what make up the lower bowl of the arena, and are typically the best seats in the house. However, fans who wish to save some cash can opt to sit in the 100 level seats in the mezzanine, which offers a great view of the Devils or the other action taking place at Prudential Center, without necessarily carrying with it the same costs. Fortunately, with Prudential Center not being a massive venue, there aren't any bad seats in the building, per se.
Prudential Center tips and tricks
Prudential Center opens an hour to 90 minutes before the start of events held there, and 90 minutes before the start of New Jersey Devils games. This allows plenty of time for fans to get there early, watch their favorite players skate or shoot around and evaluate the available food and merchandise options. Also, with mass transit options including PATH trains, Amtrak, and NJ Transit all within a couple of blocks of the arena at Newark Penn Station, taking mass transit could be a real time and energy saver when heading to Prudential Center.
Prudential Center Club Seating
The new private club at Prudential Center gives fans access to premium seating during New Jersey Devils games, as well as an all-inclusive gourmet buffet, all while fans in this seating area can check out the private club areas that have been renovated in the arena.
Getting to Prudential Center
The accessibility of Prudential Center is unique in the New York/New Jersey area, as it is rare for a venue in that area to have so many mass transit options, while still being so easy to drive to, something that may not be able to be said for The Rock's counterparts in Brooklyn and Manhattan.
