Opened in 2007, the Sprint Center is one of the top destinations for college basketball, in addition to plenty of other marquee events. Located in Kansas City, Missouri, the Sprint Center regularly plays host to the Kansas Jayhawks during their non-conference season, and has been the home of the Big 12 basketball tournament, among other important college basketball events over the years since the building opened.

With regards to the Jayhawks, Kansas has played at least one game at the Sprint Center during their non-conference season in every season since 2007. Kansas has won the majority of those games, with their home court advantage in those games being strong due to the arena's proximity to Lawrence, Kansas, where the university is located. The venue is also connected to the College Basketball Hall of Fame, where many Jayhawks are immortalized.

The Big 12 Tournaments held at Sprint Center have been memorable, thanks to the high level of play of perennial college basketball powers including the Jayhawks, along with the likes of Baylor, Oklahoma, and plenty of other Big 12 teams that have made strong runs in the NCAA Tournament.

Sprint Center was also the home of an Arena Football team at one point, when the Kansas City Brigade called the venue home during its existence in the league. Given Kansas City's history of raucous fan support when it comes to football, thanks to their record breaking crowd volume at Chiefs games, this arrangement was a natural fit.

Outside of the world of sports, plenty of noteworthy events in the entertainment world have taken place at Sprint Center. The final episode of WWE's reboot of Extreme Championship Wrestling took place at the Sprint Center, while the venue has also played host to some of music's most legendary artists, including Elton John, Tina Turner, and AC/DC, as well as current artists such as Chris Brown, Jason Aldean, and Demi Lovato.
