The Athletics, often referred to as the A's, originated as the Philadelphia Athletics in 1901 as one of the charter franchises of the American League. Founded by Connie Mack and Ben Shibe, the team quickly became a powerhouse, winning five World Series titles between 1910 and 1930. The franchise relocated to Kansas City in 1955 and eventually moved to Oakland in 1968. Since then, the team has established a strong legacy on the West Coast, becoming known for their passionate fan base and commitment to developing talented players, often through innovative methods. Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum served as the home ballpark for the A's from 1968 until 2024. Beginning with the 2025 season, the A's will relocate to Sutter Health Park in West Sacramento, where they will remain until their new ballpark in Las Vegas is finished in 2028.
The Athletics have achieved several major accomplishments throughout their history, including a string of championships and pioneering the "Moneyball" strategy, which emphasized data-driven decisions in player acquisition. They won three consecutive World Series titles from 1972 to 1974, led by players like Reggie Jackson and Catfish Hunter. The A's also reached the World Series three times in the late 1980s, winning in 1989 under manager Tony La Russa in a memorable series against the San Francisco Giants, known as the "Bay Bridge Series." In the early 2000s, general manager Billy Beane popularized a statistical approach to team-building, which helped the A's remain competitive despite a limited budget and reshaped how Major League Baseball teams evaluate talent

The Athletics will play their 2025 and 2026 season home games at Sutter Health Park in West Sacramento, CA.
After moving the franchise out of Oakland and into Vegas, with a new stadium pending, the Athletics will play this season's home games at Sutter Health Park. Historically, the A's played at the Oakland Coliseum, opened in 1966, the last remaining multi-purpose stadium shared by a professional baseball and football team until the Oakland Raiders' departure in 2019. Despite its challenges, the stadium’s large foul territory and unique atmosphere have given it a distinct identity.
The Athletics Opening Day is March 27, 2025.

Athletics games, like most Major League Baseball (MLB) games, typically last around 2 hours and 36 minutes. This average duration has been consistent across the league since the implementation of the pitch clock in 2023, which significantly reduced game times from previous years.
While the average game lasts 2 hours and 36 minutes, actual Athletics game durations can vary. Factors such as extra innings, high-scoring games, or frequent pitching changes can extend the length of a Athletics game. Conversely, games with efficient pitching and quick innings may conclude in less time.
Planning for a 3-hour window is typically a safe bet for a Athletics game!
