So when he boasted “Every song sounds like Drake featuring Drake,” in 2013, he may have been giving his competition too much credit—who else can do everything that he does?
Born as Aubrey Graham in 1986 in Toronto, a city that holds a strong presence in his music, Drake’s first entry into pop culture was as a cast member on teen drama Degrassi in the early ‘00s. It wasn’t long before he pursued a career in music, and it was his 2009 mixtape So Far Gone that first earned him serious attention. Lil Wayne, already a multi-time collaborator with Drake at that point, signed him to Young Money Entertainment just months after its release. Since then, Drake has earned several platinum albums, billions of streams on Spotify and positioned himself as one of the most multifaceted artists in modern music.
In 2023 alone, Drake released For All The Dogs and a "Scary Hours" extended version of the album, toured the US on his 'It's All a Blur Tour,' and announced more tour dates in 2024 alongside collaborator and friend, J.
