About Hasan Minaj Tickets
Hasan Minhaj was born on September 23, 1985, in Davis, California, to immigrant parents from India. He studied political science at UC Davis, where he discovered stand-up comedy after watching Chris Rock’s Never Scared. This ignited his passion for comedy, leading him to perform at open-mic nights in San Francisco beginning around 2008. He won Wild 94.9’s national radio competition “Best Comic Standing," which opened doors for him to open for established comedians like Katt Williams and Gabriel Iglesias.
Hasan’s early television roles included appearances on MTV’s Disaster Date, hosting the web series The Truth with Hasan Minhaj, and the MTV panel show Failosophy. In 2014, he secured a breakthrough role as a correspondent on The Daily Show, becoming the last correspondent hired by Jon Stewart. His satire on pivotal topics—such as the Trump administration’s Muslim travel ban—brought him considerable acclaim. He further garnered national attention after delivering a stirring roast at the 2017 White House Correspondents’ Dinner, during which he described then-President Trump as the “liar in chief."
In 2017 – 2018, Hasan released his first stand-up special, Homecoming King, on Netflix. Filmed at UC Davis—his alma mater—the performance reflected his experience growing up as a second-generation Indian-American Muslim. The special received widespread praise and earned him a Peabody Award. In 2018, he launched the political talk show Patriot Act with Hasan Minhaj on Netflix, which ran for six seasons and won him an Emmy, a Peabody and two Webbys. Alongside his unique blend of storytelling and social commentary, the show solidified his place as a distinctive voice in modern political comedy.
