Monica Denise Arnold (born October 24, 1980) is a Grammy-winning American R&B singer, songwriter and occasional actress. She began singing in her church choir at a very young age and was discovered by producer Dallas Austin at 11. She released her debut album, "Miss Thang," in 1995 at just 14, which featured long-standing hits on the R&B charts. Highlights of her career include chart-toppers like “Don’t Take It Personal,” “Before You Walk Out of My Life,” her iconic duet “The Boy Is Mine” with Brandy and later solo tracks such as “So Gone,” “Still Standing” and “Commitment.”

Monica’s most recently released studio album is Code Red, issued in December 2015 on RCA Records. Currently, she’s preparing her eighth R&B album, titled MDA (her initials), expected later this year. That project follows her upcoming country album Open Roads, executive-produced by Brandi Carlile. No official release date has been announced yet, but glimpses of new music under both projects have surfaced since 2019.
