Maroon 5 Details

We’ll put it simply: No band has dominated the 21st century in the same way that Maroon 5 has. With an iconic hit album released in 2002 and a fluid, up-to-the-minute sound that has kept them on the cutting edge of the pop charts into today, Maroon 5 boasts a wider-spanning resume than all but a few bands performing today. Even crazier is the fact that the history of the group goes way back before their early-2000s introduction to stardom. Maroon 5—as its now known—was first formed as Kara’s Flowers by high school friends Adam Levine, Jesse Carmichael, Mickey Madden and Ryan Dusick. After attending college, the band reunited as Maroon 5 in 2001 and signed with Octone Records.

Considering all the albums they’ve sold, you very well may know Maroon 5’s story from there. Their debut album Songs About Jane, launched a quartet of hit singles in “Harder to Breathe,” “This Love,” “She Will Be Loved” and “Sunday Morning.” It became a soft-rock classic over time, selling over 2.5 million copies by 2005 and over 5 million copies by 2015. It would be another five years before they released a follow-up, but 2007’s It Won’t Be Soon Before Long didn’t disappoint, becoming their first No. 1 album and providing their first No. 1 single, “Makes Me Wonder.” 2010 album Hand All Over charted at No. 2, but didn’t find its groove on the radio until fourth single “Moves Like Jagger” went 6x Platinum in the U.S. and destroyed the airwaves. Since then, seemingly every single from Overexposed (2012) and V (2014) has charted in the Top 10, with songs “One More Night” and “Sugar” especially finding great success. In early 2017, the band released its sixth album, Red Pill Blues.
