Los Tigres del Norte are a legendary Mexican norteño group formed in 1968 in Sinaloa by brothers Jorge, Hernán, Eduardo, Luis Hernández and their cousin Óscar Lara. They began performing across northern Mexico before relocating to California, where they earned their name—an immigration official reportedly referred to them as "little tigers" at the border. Their breakthrough came with the 1972 hit Contrabando y Traición, which helped define the narco-corrido genre. Their music deeply resonates with stories of migration, social struggle, and resilience, earning them widespread acclaim in both Mexico and the United States.

As of May 23, 2025, Los Tigres del Norte's most recent release is the La Lotería EP, featuring five socially conscious new tracks that explore themes of migration, justice, corruption and hope. The title track employs the metaphor of the game "La Lotería" to examine life’s uncertainties and inequalities.
