UCLA Bruins Football Details
The Rose Bowl is one of college football’s prettiest settings, not to mention a National Historic Landmark. It was built in 1928, with UCLA hosting home games there since 1982. Its seating capacity is close to 90,000.
The stadium is located approximately 25 miles from UCLA’s Westwood home, so tailgating isn’t a campus event. Lot H at the Rose Bowl is convenient, but you’ll need to arrive early. Make sure to wear your blue and gold to fit in with the home fans.
On the field, the Bruins have had plenty of success, with more than three dozen consensus All-America selections, a Heisman Trophy winner (QB Gary Beban, 1967), numerous conference titles and a share of the 1954 national championship. Fifteen former Bruins are in the College Football Hall of Fame, including Beban, QB Troy Aikman and OT Jonathan Ogden.
UCLA was a founding member of the Athletic Association of Western Universities (which later became the Pac-8, Pac-10 and Pac-12) in 1959. Its traditional rivals include Cal, Washington and Stanford, but USC really gets the Bruins’ blood boiling.
The schools are located approximately 12 miles apart, and used to share the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum as a home stadium. The Bruins and Trojans first met in 1929, and have played for the Victory Bell annually since 1937. The matchup is now held at the Rose Bowl in even-numbered years, when UCLA’s student section – known as “The Den” – promises to be entertaining.
A sunny Southern California afternoon at one of college football’s most legendary stadiums sounds great, doesn’t it? Get your UCLA football tickets now!
