Toronto Raptors Details
Canada’s NBA team, the Toronto Raptors, entered the league in the mid-1990s. But since that point, Toronto has made a name for itself in the NBA playoffs. With some strong teams led by some of the game’s more intriguing players in several eras, the Raptors have accomplished more in the playoffs than a large number of teams that have existed far longer than they have.
Toronto won its first playoff series in the 2000-2001 playoffs, when they knocked off the New York Knicks in the first round. That series was great revenge for the first round series they played in the 1999-2000 campaign, which the Knicks swept en route to the NBA Finals. With the first round being a best-of-five series during this time period, the Raptors were able to push the Knicks to a fifth game and get the job done in shocking fashion.
Those Raptors were led by Vince Carter, who was just a couple of seasons into his long and productive NBA career. Carter was so much more than the elite dunker that people may remember him as now, as he was able to use that athleticism to breach defenses and score with relative ease.
The Raptors had a great run of playoff success in the 2010s, when DeMar DeRozan and Kyle Lowry were able to lead the team to playoff appearance after playoff appearance, many of which saw them take on playoff rivals like the Nets and Cavaliers. The team reached the Eastern Conference Finals in 2016, where they pushed LeBron James and the Cavaliers to their limits.
A combination like DeRozan and Lowry was special in the playoffs, because the use of two top-tier scoring guards made it difficult to tell who was going to take important shots in crunch time. It also made it tough for teams to defend them throughout games, as most NBA teams don’t have two guards capable of defending such an explosive duo.
During the 2010s era of Raptors playoff basketball, fans who weren’t inside the arena would gather outside to watch the game in an area known as Jurassic Park. Both the indoor and outdoor fan contingents were dedicated and loud, creating a great atmosphere no matter where you were watching.
When Do Raptors Playoff Tickets Go On Sale?
Playoff tickets for the Toronto Raptors usually go on sale around the point in the season that the Raptors qualify for the playoffs. This usually happens around late March or early April, as that is when the NBA regular season is winding down. If the Raptors are having a great season, this can happen earlier as well.
How Much Do Raptors Playoff Tickets Cost?
Toronto Raptors playoff tickets cost, on average, $193 on the secondary market. That price can vary based on where a fan wants to sit, as well as what stage of the playoffs a fan is looking to attend. Naturally, tickets to the NBA Finals can be more costly than tickets to the first round of the playoffs, and courtside seats can be more expensive than tickets in the upper rows.
