Singer, dancer, and actress, Britney Spears has been in the public eye since she appeared on the popular ‘90s show, “Star Search”, at the tender age of eight. She was cast in several commercials before she joined the cast of “The Mickey Mouse Club” at ten years old, remaining on the show until it was canceled in 1996. Originally tapped for a potential all-girl NSYNC counterpart, Britney Spears recorded a demo and auditioned with several record labels as a solo artist. Ignoring the labels that said that a teen solo act wasn’t going to happen in the ‘90s, Britney Spears signed with Jive Records and released her first studio album, “Baby One More Time”, in 1999, which became the best-selling album by a teenager. Regarded by many as a pop icon, Britney Spears is credited with reviving teen pop at the end of the ‘90s and proving the naysayers wrong.

Not only was Britney Spears the best-selling teenage artist of all time, Britney Spears also has the distinction of being the best-selling female artist of the first decade of the 2000s, and recognized by Forbes Magazine as the highest paid female musician of 2012. In 2013, Britney Spears started a four-year resident concert series in Las Vegas, performing 248 shows before its conclusion at the end of 2017.

Britney Spears has been successful on the awards front as well, earning over 250 nominations, and winning more than one hundred awards. Perhaps most notable of her many awards are her seven Guinness Book of World Records held for albums sales, being the youngest female artist to have six number one albums, and reaching number 1 the fastest on the UK chart (by a female teenage solo artist). She also won the Best Dance Recording Grammy Award in 2005 for her single “Toxic”, in addition to the American Music Awards Favorite New Pop Artist in 2000.
