Cirque du Soleil: Corteo Details

Corteo tells the story of an endearing clown named Mauro caught in a world between heaven and earth. He is transported through this realm by a series of whimsical characters, both enchanting and thrilling. A delightful cast of characters suspend reality and keep audiences breathlessly engaged.

About Corteo

Cirque du Soleil first debuted Corteo in Montreal in 2005. The show was originally performed on a semi-permanent stage in their Big Top and toured from 2005 to 2016 when Corteo made its transition to an arena show tour. The set, stage, and acts were revitalized to meet the more rapid pace touring demands of arena tours.

Since the show first began, it has reached millions of audience members around the world. Corteo hit its 3,500th performance in 2015 and continues impacting audiences with its story of human kindness and thrilling stunts.

The Live Corteo Experience

Corteo is performed on a complex, rotating stage that give audiences unprecedented views of actors and set pieces alike. Deriving its name from the Italian for funeral procession, Corteo follows the journey of a clown who observes his own funeral. Anything but macabre, Corteo is a joyous celebration of life, humanity, and the characters we meet along the way.

The show features over fifteen acts ranging from hilarious comedy to gravity-defying acrobatics. Audiences can expect to see Cirque mainstays, such as the aerial performances of actors in elaborately designed rigging. Corteo offers brand new acts as well, featuring trampoline-like contraptions and musical Tibetan bowls.

Throughout the nearly two-hour show, audiences will reflect on the happiness we capture in life and get a chance to take a little home with them.

Notable Cirque du Soleil Corteo Performers

The cast of Corteo is culturally diverse, bringing with them circus arts from a multitude of countries. Performers hail from all over the world, including Belarus, Brazil, Canada, Ukraine, and the United States.
