Colgate's football program began in 1890. In 1915, Colgate won its 100th game in school history by defeating Army. The Raiders finished the 1932 season 9-0 and didn't allow a single point all ear. The Raiders won the national title, but were not invited to 'the granddaddy of them all', the Rose Bowl. In 1982, Colgate was dropped from Division I-A to Division I-AA (now known as the Football Championship Subdivision, Or FCS). The Raiders took the move in stride and became the only Patriot League team to make the Division I FCS championship game in 2003. The Raiders lost the game to Delaware. The Raiders have seen a fair amount of recent success with six Patriot League titles, the most recent one came in 2008.
